International cooperation
From December 20-24, 2022, a delegation from the National Association of Cooperatives and Other Forms of Economic Communities of the Republic of Kazakhstan visited the Republic of India. They met with colleagues from the following organizations:


  • National Cooperative Union of India
  • Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative
  • National Cooperative Housing Federation of India
  • National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India
  • World Trade Center Mumbai
  • World Trade Center New Delhi
  • World Trade Center Goa

During meetings with the leadership of the National Cooperative Union of India, the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative, the National Cooperative Housing Federation of India, the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India, the World Trade Center Mumbai, and the World Trade Center Goa, an agreement was reached on future cooperation and an exchange of experience, including training programs conducted directly within Indian cooperatives.
The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) is the largest cooperative union in the world, encompassing 290,000,000 cooperative members and all types of cooperative associations throughout India.
The NCUI is the primary organization representing the entire cooperative movement in India and has been operating since 1929. The union's purpose is to promote and develop the cooperative movement in India; educate and assist people in their efforts; create and expand the cooperative sector; and serve as a voice for cooperative principles.
Membership in the NCUI is open to national and state-level cooperative organizations, as well as multi-state cooperative societies. The NCUI currently has 260 member organizations, which include 17 national-level, 163 state-level, and 80 multi-state cooperatives. The union represents over 290,000,000 individual members.
The National Cooperative Housing Federation of India (NCHFI)'s primary duty is to act as a promoter, developer, and coordinator for cooperative housing projects in India.
It coordinates with various ministries and central and state government bodies, including the Reserve Bank of India, the National Housing Bank, the Housing and Urban Development Corporation, the Life Insurance Corporation of India, the National Building Organization, the Council for the Promotion of Building Materials and Technologies, the Central Building Research Institute, the National Cooperative Union of India, and the National Council for Cooperative Training.


This coordination is done to strengthen the cooperative housing movement in India. The NCHF also organizes training programs for senior cooperative housing federations and housing cooperatives.
The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED)'s objectives are to organize, promote, and develop the marketing, processing, and storage of agricultural, horticultural, and forestry products.
Its tasks also include the distribution of agricultural machinery, inventory, and other resources, as well as carrying out inter-state, import, export, wholesale, and retail trade as necessary.
The organization may also provide technical assistance in agricultural production to support and promote its members, partners, and marketing, processing, and supply cooperatives throughout India.
The Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative is the world's largest fertilizer cooperative, with more than 50,000,000 farmers as members.
It has branches in the following countries: Jordan, Oman, and Senegal.
The World Trade Center Mumbai (WTC Mumbai) promotes international trade and investment through a wide range of services and facilities.
The center brings together Indian businesses and international partners on a single platform through one-on-one business networks, providing the business community with skills, resources, and talent.
The services offered by the center include trade research, trade facilitation programs, educational programs, and an international library. These services benefit all segments of society by connecting professionals, exporters, importers, research institutes, government agencies, and more. The WTC Mumbai is also authorized to issue certificates.
